Jo Lobdell (b. 1986) is a visual artist, creating textiles, installations, and sculptural forms.
Raised on the New England coast in a multigenerational household, Lobdell’s practice is caught up in those familia connections through the inheritance of objects, skills, and ideas from previous generations. She transforms these acquisitions into new forms and ideas, often imbuing them with elements of playfulness, optimism, and loss. Currently working in fiber, wood, and dye, she is exploring themes around caretaking and the movement of time.
Lobdell resides and works in Boston, MA and collaborates as a creative partner at the interdisciplinary studio Matter Design.
